Live a little or a lot

Updated: Jun 24, 2022

Your ultimate guide to staycations in the capital of the UAE. Everything You Need to Know about the most luxurious hotels to escape the summer heat.

There are few hotels that offer you complete luxury. W Hotel Abu Dhabi Yas Island is one of them. From Avant-Garde architecture to exquisite dining experiences, Yas Island in the country capital gave me so many reasons to fall in love with staycations altogether.

You’ve probably read many reviews online. Of hotels that keep their customer's needs above all else. At W, the staff ensures that guests are comfortable from the time they check in to the valet outdoors.

Fun fact, the property has 8 floors, 424 rooms and 75 suites. For those here on business, there are 26 meeting rooms all housed in 48,222 sq ft of total meeting space. Everyone from celebrities, actors and musicians have graced the halls of the establishment at one time or another.

It felt nice to toss my hair in the wind and sit outside the balcony and just watch the humungous boats parked in the island's Abu Dhabi Marina. You don’t have to own one to dream right?

Whatever, Whenever

It is a venue you should not visit alone. Guess what? pets are welcome. Not too many venues offer customers the opportunity to bring their furry friends along.

What I love most is that there’s a smoke-free policy throughout the venue. It is paramount when traveling with family, in my opinion. Smoking will cost guests a friendly fine of AED 500. Visitors are encouraged to use the open spaces. W-ay to go W, it is a relief that there's no linen or curtains smelling of nicotine. Thank you very much. Rooms are equipped with a mini-fridge, the most divine sustainable davines amenities, and as any 5-star requires, 24-room service options.

We dined at their award-winning brunch and lunch venue which quite simply left me smiling. Driven by a passion for flavour and fueled by diversity, Garage offers a taste revolution with live cooking stations. Diners can choose from Asian cuisine, burgers, sides, salads, or even juicy mezze items. Their lush creamy chocolate ice cream had me on cloud 14. That was our floor. Cloud 9, is way too cliche. The Wet Deck rooftop is a great place to chill. Adults can hang out and enjoy some bites and refreshing beverages. The kids can splash about on the Sun Deck. There’s also Amici, an Italian eatery, offering authentic Italian cuisine with a Tuscan twist. Angar serves Indian foods with a twist and novelty that most from the sub-continent and beyond are familiar with.

A special mention to our hosts Rebecca Renée Marketing Manager at W Abu Dhabi - Yas Island and Giulia Torniamenti also from the W-Team who went out of their way to ensure that our stay was top-class. The hotel is also the venue for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, a much-awaited and publicized event in the GCC. We stayed at the 'Fantastic, 1 Bedroom Suite, 1 King, Balcony.

If you are looking for a way to truly unwind. This is the classiest place I've been to in a long time. I've not been so happy to spend quality time with my family.

Yas Island is a one and half hour's drive from the Emirate of Sharjah. It's even closer from Dubai.

Lots of treats for the kids morning, noon or night. Garage says, 'come hungry,' we obeyed!
